Exhibition opening - Industrial Heritage of Tbilisi

MUA’s team has initiated the Research of Industrial Heritage of Tbilisi and has been exploring the industrial sites of the city over the last few months. Motivation is derived from the desire to explore the non-visible resources of Tbilisi. Studying and analyzing existing contexts, exploring the entire image of the industrial heritage of Tbilisi, and raising awareness about revitalization for some special locations is a long-term task for us.
The exhibition “Tbilisi Industrial Heritage Tbilisi” was held to showcase and summarize the findings. The event took part in the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial 2020 - What Do We Have in Common. The chosen location for the exhibition - Artarea Gallery, is one of the positive examples of a revitalized former industrial location.
The project is focused on a multidisciplinary approach - the process has been conducted alongside the representatives of different disciplines and institutions: photographer @Angus Leadley Brown, curator, and researcher Nini Palavandishvili, CES - Creative Education Studio and Indigo magazine.
Architecture Students from four different universities took part in the process of research: Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Tbilisi Technical University, Ilia State University, and Free University of Tbilisi (VA[A]DS).
The project "Industrial Heritage Research" is initiated and financially supported by MUA.
Co-funded by LEPL Creative Georgia in the framework of the contest “Creative Industries Development”- sub priorities “Support for Eco Systems in Frames of Creative Industries”.
