Danarti 16th Issue Presentation
On 12th May, the 16th issue of Danarti, which was dedicated to the Industrial Heritage of Tbilisi, was presented at Fabrika.
Danarti is an independent, interdisciplinary series of publications. The 16th issue of Danarti is dedicated to the abandoned industrial spaces spread all over Tbilisi, representing the city’s invisible resource.
Our team started researching the industrial heritage of Tbilisi in 2020. The first step we took was researching the basic information about former industrial units, documenting them with photos and creating the primary database for further development of the process.
The team selected the shortlist of buildings for the 16th issue of Danarti that portray the development of architecture in 20th-century Tbilisi.
The project - Industrial Heritage of Tbilisi - is dedicated to identifying industrial buildings of Tbilisi, collecting primary research about them, and creating an accessible database. The topic of industrial heritage and its preservation is widely discussed internationally.
However, this topic is not yet addressed in a substantive way in Georgia. Therefore, our long-term goal is to initiate and expand this discussion in the local context.
