The project territory, currently a vacant plot, is located on the right bank of the Mtkvari River and comprises 25 000 square meters. The project reimagines the abandoned site as a vibrant community hub that caters to public and private interests.
The development of the project is foreseen in several stages and requires little investment. With the creative use of stacks of shipping containers, we are evading massive constructions. In regards to their materiality, these repurposed containers are environment-friendly, create maximum flexibility, and can be easily deconstructed.
The Saqanela platform is a huge asset to the community that inspires people from all walks of life to meet, create, experiment, and have fun. It makes an excellent destination to spend the whole day, relax, and engage in various activities.
The area features various functional zones ranging from food courts, exhibition pavilions, conference halls, children's playgrounds, walking trails, and a parking space. Sports and entertainment activities include:
- a purpose-built recreational environment with pools and ramps for skateboarders, scooters, and BMX
- A climbing wall that fits perfectly into the existing landscape
- street basketball court
- Open-air Amphitheater for concerts
Taking advantage of an overlooked area and, albeit temporarily, transforming it into a thriving urban hub for creative and cultural activity, will have a lasting impact on the local community.
